International students intending to study in Cyprus will require a student visa that will be arranged by the Cypriot educational institution upon admission. Student visas are issued by the Migration Authorities for a period of one year and they are renewable every year. In order to apply for the student visa, students must have evidence indicating the certificate of admission, an open date return flight ticket and a banker’s draft to cover the payment of the balance of the semester’s tuition and fees and living costs for six months. The migration authorities will also require that upon arrival in Cyprus all students undergo a medical examination.
Accommodation and living expenses for students studying in Cyprus and renting a flat are about Cyprus Pounds 400, with about half of this amount allocated for rent and the remainder for food, entertainment and incidental expenses.
It is illegal for international students to undertake any form of employment during their studies in Cyprus. An exception is made for Hotel/ hospitality Management students, who are permitted to undertake paid employment during the summer vacation.
Foreign students are entitled to free medical care at public hospitals. |
